Sorry if this is vague. In short I lost my mum to suicide in January and I lost my job in December. The year itself hasn’t been that bad but these 2 major events have unfortunately defined the start and end of my 2025.
I’ll have some time in Dec & Jan to spend with my kid as I’ve been placed on garden leave but I also wanted to do something for myself so I thought how about read a book, which is something I haven’t done very much in a while. Could be fiction, could be non-fiction self help type books. Something for my heart, to give me hope that next year will be kinder. Thank you!

The book that gave me hope in a dark time such as yours was Man’s Search for Meaning. It is a powerful meditation on many facets of life amidst difficult conditions,
Also, the book Count of Monte Cristo’s central theme is that of hope, it is a long addictive and deeply story and character driven book, easy to read and understand, but in the end you will know much about the philosophy of hope.
