I need a good hate read! American Canto by Olivia Nuzzi has a 12-week wait at my library. No way in hell I'm buying it. Nuzzi has been called "completely oblivious," "insufferable," and full of "self-delusions." Any recs along those lines?
For more context, I'm a sucker for a white woman lacking in self-awareness a la Glennon Doyle (I'll link my classic post about that in the comments) but I'll take any recs. If you can't think of a memoir, maybe an expose that pissed you off? Heck, I'll take something like a mommy blogger rec if you can't think of a book. Anything goes.
One of my favorite reviews about American Canto that prompted me to want to pick it up was from Scaachi Khoul for Slate: "Intended to reveal the truth behind headlines from last year, the book is purportedly about her affair with then–presidential candidate and now head of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In reality, it’s mostly about how compelling Nuzzi thinks it is to be a blond white woman in journalism.”
EDIT: Oops, no links allowed in comments either.
