Wondering if there are any humor books people have listened to lately that happen to be ok for a 10yo. A lot of audiobooks are too hard to get into for a kid in the car so I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions for something like this that might be an easier listen? Will take other suggestions too but things like Harry Potter have been too dense for the car. I have The Graveyard Book downloaded to try too. Thanks

Oooh. The Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett would be perfect. The narrator is amazing and the accents and voices he uses for different characters are delightful and so fun.

I had a hard time warming up to Terry Pratchett, but a friend convinced me to listen to the first one of this series on a road trip, and I was hooked. And it’s perfect for kids, too. The first book in the series is called The Wee Free Men.

    2. Bill Bryson – pretty much any book! Excellent narration by the author, and a great sense of gentle humour.

    3. We listened to The Incorrigible Children of Aston Place: The Mysterious Howling in the car. It’s engaging and funny and the narrator is fantastic.

The Worst Christmas Pageant! Classic, funny, and there’s a version read by Elaine Stritch (sampling?)

My kids and I have been enjoying the Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians series lately. Hilarious even for the adults listening

The Bartimaeus audiobooks are fantastic, a world where magic is done by capturing demons, and Bartimaeus is the snarkiest demon in existence!

Rudyard Kipling is also great, Jungle Book and Captains Courageous. The latter is a great one to have ‘values’ discussions. A spoiled rich kid falls off a steamer and is picked up by a fishing schooner whose captain thinks his story is full of shit and puts him to work, which finally give him some character. Swiss Family Robinson is also awesome.

If they like SF, there’s great classic YA from Robert Heinlein. I highly recommend Have Spacesuit, Will Travel. There’s a lot of his on Audible.

    7. If you like short stories, the Vinyl Cafe stories with Stuart Mclean. Funny short stories set in Toronto, Canada. Highly recommend you start with “Dave cooks the turkey”. Hilarious

Maybe “The eyes and the impossible” by Dave Eggers and read with hilarity and heart by Ethan Hawke. It’s about a dog in an urban park. There is a young adult version of Trevor Noah’s memoir called “Born a Crime” but I’m not sure an audiobook exists.

    9. Maybe “Good Omens” by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett? Its main characters include a group of children close to his age who he might enjoy.
