Mental illness runs in both sides of the family, so is varying degrees of gaslighting and narcissism. Finding a book where a young woman was convinced by family her memory was unreliable and she needed to stop pushing for the truth drew me in instantly as a result. I just had to figure out if her family was right or if they were gaslighting her the entire time drew me in and made it impossible for me to put it down. The fact returning home after her father’s death triggered so many hidden memories for her also kept me captivated, it constantly left me wondering if she was genuinely remembering something or if her mind was inventing things that happened.
