I'm going on a long trip and looking for a hefty book to bring along. (Somewhere between 300-600ish pages)
I'm looking for something exciting, not slow paced. Female protagonist who is an adult. Preferably* written by a woman.
No romance. No animal death.
I do most other genres, but I cannot handle SA and would prefer no in depth sex scenes.
When I was younger I read 24/7 but my life fell apart and now that it's calmer I'm hoping to read again, but I'm feeling very overwhelmed picking something. I'll eventually branch back out to more choices but right now this is where I'm at.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!

The only long adventure book I can think of with a female protagonist is Reamde by Neal Stevenson. It’s missing the female author but it checks every other box. It’s a great ride! Plenty of human death, but I can’t remember an animal death. Three smart, fabulous female characters facing danger with determination and courage. I bet you’ll love it.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. It’s delightful and I am fairly confident it complies with all your parameters. It isn’t super hefty at only 336 pages, but that’s the only place I can fault it.
