Apologies in advance if this is not the right subreddit. I’m looking for a very specific book that was on my TBR list, that I apparently never actually added to my list.
I don’t remember what it’s called, or who it’s written by, but here are some things I do remember:
It’s an older novel (it might be considered a classic but i’m not 100% sure)
It’s written by a male writer who was not an American. I believe they might have been either Russian or German? Possibly French but I’m leaning more toward the other options.
I saw people online quoting/recommending it a lot about a year ago or so, if that helps.
And I do remember the cover (or one of the covers) being white/cream with a picture of someone (likely a character though I can’t remember if the person was male or female).
I also think the title was a name? Although this might not be 100% true because I thought it might have been Anna Karenina but it’s not, so I could have been confusing Anna Karenina for this one that I can’t remember.
I think I would remember it if I saw the book or the title of it (hopefully) but this is really bothering me and I would appreciate some help.
