Trying to work on myself more, already in weekly therapy but would love more exposure to new ideas and concepts that I can bring up next time in those sessions.

Been trying to find some self help books since I don’t really know where to start but frustrstingly the majority of them are made by random people with no professional knowledge or grounded research in the subject. Not to say those people don’t have some wisdom that I can learn from, but those types of books are more prone to anecdotal evidence and providing non-scientifically backed solutions that have no real proof if it’s actually effective enough to work for the majority of individuals or if it even works at all.

I‘d really rather read self-help books from individuals who are professionals in their field as they often have done research in these specific topics and are also well versed in the other scientific literature that argues both for and against the ideas they’re discussing.

    Anyone have any recommendations?
