Going through a rough break up, where I did 100% of the emotional labor. I'm all burnt out on feelings.
Usually, I love a good book with a romantic subplot or a found family. But right now I can't stand that type of thing. Most of my go to's have some sort of romance (cozy mysteries always have a handsome detective, my fiction/fantasy is loaded with them).
I want a fiction book with an MC and no romance; not even a "oh, we had moments during the novel, but we don't get together in the end". Any sub-genre as long as it matches my parameters.
A recent book that sort of hit that itch (there was a found family, but even that's a stretch) was Sea of Rust by C. Robert Cargill. I have been binging Sherlock Holmes stories.
Thanks in advance.
