Every time I listen to The National's Lemonworld, it makes me think of Seymour Glass (Or maybe Buddy, writing as/about Seymour) from JD Salinger's Glass family stories. The emotions and thoughts expressed in Lemonworld seem like something out of A Perfect Day for Bananafish or Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters (or For Esmé – With Love and Squalor, if you believe Sergeant X is Buddy, as I do). I'm sure other people have strong connections in their brains between certain stories and songs, so I figured I'd ask.

Supercut by Lorde and The Remains of the Day

Holy (Til You Let Me Go) by Rina Sawayama and The Bear and the Nightingale (I know technically the lyrics are about growing up queer, but they also work perfectly for a witchy girl being terrorized by a creepy ass priest, sooooo…)

There are definitely a bunch more of these but I haven’t written them down and these are the only ones I remember right now, lol. Also honorable mention to Pang by Caroline Polachek and Before Sunrise, which is not a book. lol.
