Hi, I picked out "mystery books" for everyone in my family for Christmas. Today I casually mentioned Red Rising to my brother (the book I got him) and he said he read it and he pretty much trashed it and said it was too YA. His favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson and Cormac McCarthy – does anyone have a recommendation or two??? I have tomorrow to run out to the local bookstore and hopefully find a replacement. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

There’s a lot of Brandon Sanderson books, but which ones does he have or has he read?
Has he read Lonesome Dove? Or Butcher’s Crossing by John Williams.
If you want to go the fantasy route, The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie (or any first in one of his series, really).
The Land Breakers by John Ehle
There’s a new Brandon Sanderson book! Just came out earlier in December so it’s likely he hasn’t read it. It’s called Tailored Realities. Standalone short fiction, so different than his usual work.
The Sisters Brothers
The Will of the Many by James Islington
My husband likes both and also like Project Hail Mary, and the bonus is there is a movie coming out. It’s Sci-fi not fantasy, but I’ve heard it has cross-over appeal.
