I love fantasy, but I'm tired of generic wizards and elemental magic. I'm looking for a book where the magic feels fresh, logical, and deeply woven into the world's culture or science. Something where the rules have real consequences.
Books that have done this well for me are The Fifth Season (geological magic) or Foundryside (programmable reality).
Can anyone recommend a fantasy novel with a clever, original, and well-explained system of magic?

The Name of the Wind. It’s really good and has a unique, almost scientific approach to magic. Warning: unfinished trilogy.
