Something I realize about myself is that I give up too easily. The moment I start struggling in a class, my immediate thought is that it’s over, I can’t do it, I’ll have to drop out this semester. I literally have this thought every semester. If I start a hobby and it’s difficult, I quickly quit. If I feel awkward when starting a new job, I want to quit after the first day. Someone told me to watch that TED talk on grit and it was quite thought provoking. Any suggestions for self help books on the subject?

GRIT by Angela Duckworth
True Grit, by Charles Portis. True Grit is a classic 1968 Western novel, narrated by a determined 14-year-old girl, Mattie Ross, who hires a grizzled U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn, to track down her father’s murderer, Tom Chaney, in Indian Territory. The book is celebrated for its unique voice, sharp dialogue, and portrayal of grit, and has been adapted into several films, most famously starring John Wayne and later by the Coen brothers.
