Looking for something like the title says. A fiction book with a scrappy, relentless male protagonist that is consumed by his career. Perhaps exploring the dangers of that but not necessarily. Would love a rise through the ranks then dealing with the weight of the responsibility he fought for. I am not looking for sci fi or fantasy though, as I’m looking to take a break from those genres. Bonus points if it is contemporary. Any job really would fit. Not afraid of a series but stand alone is good too. Thanks in advance!
