    1. “The Bright Sword” by Lev Grossman is a fun read set in an Arthurian Fantasy England and is a great blend of accurate English history and the lore of Arthur. I thought it was fun.

      You should try historical fiction, I really like Sharon Kay penman. She has a few series of books that together span England from 1100ish – 1270s. The first is called “when Christ and his saints slept” it’s about the succession war between Stephen of Blois and Empress Matilda.

      My favorite though is her Welsh Prince series which starts with “Here be Dragons” it’s about Llewelyn Fawr and the events around Englands conquest of Wales

    3. Eaters of the Dead by Michael Crichton. Maybe not quite what you’re thinking of as it’s from the perspective of an Arab emissary and his travels/adventures with the Vikings in the 10th century, but it is fantasy in the medieval period haha.
