If you like Stoner, try Wallace Stegner – Crossing to Safety is really superb; I would also recommend The Remains of the Day by Ishiguro which is a masterpiece
Two Steinbecks you may not have heard of or tried – Travels with Charley (Steinbeck traveled around the U.S. with his poodle, Charley – one of my favorite of his) and The Moon is Down (short novella)
For Greenlights – maybe As You Wish by Carey Elwes – now this one is niche and primarily only if you like The Princess Bride – I don’t read very many celebrity books
Would also recommend Willa Cather – Death Comes for the Archbishop, O Pioneers, etc
For Alcott, try Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell – long and luxurious
these violent delights by micah nemerever.
Read the rest of Steinbeck like of mice and men!
