i really want to get into reading more but most books are just too boring imo. i really like anything really dark/disturbing/psychological/fcked up. since i dont read that much thicker books are a bit intimidating for me but if its worth it you are welcome to recommend anything.
also please let me know why i should read it since my “want to read” list is already so long and i struggle a lot with making decisions
thanks:)

The Wasp Factory by Ian Banks. It’s short as well. It’s best to read this book blind, so not gonna say why to read it.
The Hike by Drew Magary. It hits the ground running and gets more wild and disturbing as it goes. It’s fairly short as well. My favorite book of the last decade.
The Girl Next Door – Jack Ketchum : A novel loosely based on a real incident of prolonged torture and abuse of a teenage girl by her caretaker and neighborhood kids.
It’s extremely disturbing, so be careful reading it.
The books of blood by clive barker. Short story collections and it’s good they are short because you don’t want to spend too long with their ideas.
The cement garden. It’s as weird as it gets. Dont Google what it’s about, go old school and just read it
The most weird, disturbing book I have read of late, that NO ONE mentions is [The Knife Drawer](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12105938-the-knife-drawer)
The Ruins by Scott Smith. You don’t know what a bad vacation is until you’ve read this book
Suffer the children by Craig de Lounge is another level of horror.
*Blood Meridian* by Cormac McCarthy is dark, violent … and outstanding.
*In Cold Blood* by Truman Capote is a landmark work as arguably the first non-fiction / true-crime novel. Beyond the violent crime it explores, the way Capote delves into the psychology of the criminals is disturbing yet captivating/fascinating.
