I’ve never been big on reading, but I want to try to get into it. I’ll get halfway through a book and stop. I need something that will hold my attention. I’m a 21 year old female. Please drop suggestions.
Skyrim fan? If you like romance, try Fourth Wing. If not, try Dragonriders of Pern.

Anxious People by Fredrick Backman is a good book. short chapters, multiple points of view, and really interesting formatting (some are police, some are in the apartment, some are set in the past)! it’s about a small group of people who were held in a robbery in an open house, it goes into their lives a bit and how they all ended up in that situation!

Not sure what your interests are, but I reengaged my reading interest by starting out with thrillers like Girl on the Train, and with biographies or autobiographies from people I was interested in.
Maybe some booktok recommendations might help, start with less dense just to build a rhythm of getting into reading.

i always suggest three books to anyone looking to get into (or back into) reading. These are all fast reads, action-driven (which keeps the pacing quick compared to character-driven narratives), and are conductive to small reading sessions if you need a break.
**Project Hail Mary** by Andy Weir. Loveable, hilarious nerd wakes up with no idea who or where he is, but he soon remembers/discovers he’s been sent on a suicide mission to another star to save humanity. Technically sci-fi, but has broad crossover appeal and I don’t think you need to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy this. Movie version coming in March 2026 starring Ryan Gosling! Amazing audiobook too if you like those.
**World War Z** by Max Brooks (note: not at all like the movie of the same name other than the general concept of zombies). Presented as a nonfiction oral history of th zombie plague that almost wiped out humanity. Not a comedy by any means, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. Each chapter is a new survivor from all over the world, so it’s almost like a short story collection you can easily put down and pick up any time. Also, great audiobook.
**One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories** by BJ Novak. Novak was a writer and guest star on the American version of *The Office*, so these short stories all have that same absurdist, deadpan humor (though none happen in an office I don’t think). Again, easy to read a story or two and come back at your convenience.
If you have any genres you’re interested in – even movies or tv shows or a nonfiction topic – add that to your post and if any come to mind I’ll add a few more!
