My boyfriend wants to read more, but has a hard time focusing sometimes. I suggested he read gone girl, because 1) it’s an excellent book, and 2) it’s been adapted into a movie he likes, which would maybe make it easier for him to follow. This worked really well for him, and he blazed through the book. I want to help him find more books with this “feature”, because it makes him really happy to read “a whole book”. Any suggestions?

I read mostly horror so that is what most of my suggestions will be.
Misery and The Shining by Stephen King.
I’m not sure if they have adaptations, but Dark Places and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn are also AMAZING (I love that woman)
Annihilation by Jeff Vandemeer has a pretty good movie. I loved the book, too.
The Ruins by Scott Smith has a movie. The book is very brutal and bleak though, and so is the film.
For books that read like movies…
A Head Full Of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay is about a TV show and reads like one.
Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven reads documentary style, with interviews instead of prose. Same with Penance by Eliza Clark.
Holes by Louis Sachar reads really well and has an absurdly faithful film adaptation.
The Hunted by Gabriel Bergmoser reads like a fast paced thriller and is also excellent.
If they don’t mind over the top action, try any book by Mathew Reilly, they all feel like they should be a Michael Bay movie.
The Martian and Hail Mary by Andy Weir
