I’m looking for some light reading. I’m just getting back into reading after having a couple kids, so it’s been awhile. I’m not particularly interested in fantasy, sci fi, or romance novels (at least in the traditional sense). In the past I’ve enjoyed books by Sophie Kinsella and Jodi Picoult. Open to any ideas. Thank you!

Elin Hildebrand’s books are amazing! I read through her backlist once every year or so.
Remarkably Bright Creatures – Shelby Van Pelt
How about a ‘literary thriller’? A friend recently introduced me to this genre. Well written but with strong plots, which might be handy while you ‘re getting back into reading. I recently read ‘The God of the Woods’ byLiz Moore and it was great (got me through a slightest crazy Christmas)
Brightly Shining by Ingvild Rishøi is a short, easy but very moving and impactful read. It’s almost more of a novella than a novel, it only took me two hours to read and so I thought it could be a good starting point for you. Especially fitting to read now during winter, it’s become a Christmas tradition for me to read it. It’s a sad one though, just so you’re warned.
If you like Sophie Kinsella, you might want to try Carmen Reid’s Personal Shopper series. They’re pretty smart and emotional for the genre, but also that right kind of light and silly.
Finley Donovan is Killing It (and series) by Elle Cosimano
Marian Keyes (I especially loved Grown Ups) and Liane Moriarrt (wrote Big Little Lies).
