Hi! My favorite books are The Song Of Achilles (Madeline Miller) and Heart the Lover (Lily King)! I’m not a fan of fantasy books—I can never get into the world-building, and I prefer fast paced stories. I don’t mind the cheesy factor of most booktok books, what really does bother me is how unrealistic and predictable they are 😭. Other romance books I enjoyed are The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by VE Schwab, and The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. I’m not sure it fits into the category but The Midnight Library by Matt Haig was another fun read for me!!

I don’t mind spice, I dislike enemies to lovers but can be convinced, and I am not a Sally Rooney fan unfortunately. I can do both fiction and nonfiction!

You say you don’t like fantasy, but then go on to list fantasy as books you loved. Achilles, Addie La Rue, Midnight Library . . . So, which is it? 😅 Clarification needed to be edited into your post, IMO.

Also, the romance genre, by its very nature, is always somewhat predictable. Spoiler, they fall in love . . .

So maybe what you really want is to move away from the genre to try new/fresh to you with genres that aren’t predicable by their very nature?

I am going to recommend: **The Museum of Extraordinary Things** though 🙂

    2. Have you tried the Half a Soul series by Olivia Atwater? It’s fantasy romance set in Regency England. They’re short and cozy but the romances are very cute.

    3. If you liked Achilles and Greek mythology retellings in general, I liked Pat Barker’s Women of Troy Trilogy.
