My boyfriend is sick. He’s a very somber and serious person and normally his taste in books and media is a bit on the heavy, darker side. Chuck Palahniuk and Donald Ray Pollock are two of his favorite authors. He brought me a stack of DVDs recently and it includes a couple of David Lynch movies, the entire Twilight Zone series, Inherent Vice, Adaptation.
I’d love to get him out of his head and recommend a lighthearted, enjoyable audiobook he can just zone out to—but he’s picky as hell and critical.
Any ideas for someone with this kind of taste, for an easily digestible, on-the-happier-side, lighthearted, but still engaging novel? Something about men’s healing, a healing journey, coming to age later in life… would be particularly appropriate.
I know it’s super specific. I appreciate any recommendations! Thank you!
