Currently roughly halfway through The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch and enjoying it a lot. Recently read Recursion by Blake Crouch and before that I finished the Mistborn era 1 trilogy in roughly 3 weeks.

What is everyone reading and hoping to finish before the new year? Also, what do you plan to pick up next? After The Gone World I am considering jumping into the first Dungeon Crawler Carl or The first law trilogy!

I’ll probably just cross the finish line with Of Mice and Men at the start of the New Year. Tried to fit in a few smaller books this past week.

I’m planning on finishing up Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett before the new year. Then finishing up Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky sometime in February ish

    3. I’ll be wrapping up Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky as my last book – something short to wrap up the year after the busy holidays!

    4. The Greatest Story Ever Told Book 2 by Greg Laurie. I should finish it either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Finishing The Odyssey by Homer – translated by W.H.D. Rouse and starting The Complete Short Stories by Mark Twain. I’ve got a list of 20+ books to read in 2026, and the order will be determined by “drawing numbers” and reading the book on my list that corresponds to the number I draw. It makes deciding what to read next so much easier.

On Kindle, I’m finishing Finders Keepers by Stephen King. I also have a list of to be read on Kindle, but I just pick then as I go. I like posts like these, and the weekly reading posts, because it gives me ideas to add to my constantly growing to be read lists.

The Death of Materialism: A Skeptic’s Journey from Materialism to Panpsychism by David Michael Gibbs.

It’s a fantastic book about a doc who switched to believing consciousness creates reality after remote viewing. Pretty mind blowing read.

Next up: Dan Brown: The Secret of Secrets. I’m on a consciousness kick.

    7. Am halfway through “You Like It Darker” (2024) by Stephen King. Haven’t read anything by him in ages, but am enjoying this collection of short stories way more than I thought that I would.

Henry Gee’s The Decline and Fall of Human Empire. Pretty great book. After that probably Ellison’s Invisible Man.

    9. Finishing borderlands by Lewis Baston. It’s alright but I wouldn’t really recommend it anyone

    10. the last one i started was “i know how this ends” by holly smale. it was an infuriating DNF for the bait and switch of the blurb saying she’s a meteorologist, but the truth being that she’s a shitty youtuber shill who makes meteorology videos.

i won’t finish the actual last one before the new year.

    11. I finished *The Dictionary of Lost Words* by Pip Williams yesterday and started reading *Assassin’s Apprentice* by Robin Hobb today. *Middlemarch* by George Eliot and *The Pillars of the Earth* by Ken Follett are currently in progress too but they will have to wait until next year to be finished.

      Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides.

I’ll be reading a couple quick D&D and Star Wars books to start off the new year and then back into something with more weight.

I finished the Mummy by Anne Rice yesterday and I don’t think I can finish any other book before the year ends.
I started reading the song of Achilles today, but that definitely won’t be done before new years.

I‘m currently listening to the never ending story by Michael Ende, but that still had about 10 hours on it and while technically possible, I just don’t feel like finishing it right now.

    14. Firefight – Brandon Sanderson. Not liking this one as much as Steelheart so I’m starting the Silo series after this.
