Hi everyone, I've been reading a lot of great books recently. Coincidentally, they're all very dark and depressing, often violent as well. I need a break from them.
I'm looking for something fun and uplifting that's also still engaging. I'm a big scifi/fantasy nerd, but I'm open to any genre really. Terry Pratchett and John Scalzi both fit the bill (and are big influences on my own writing), but I've read a lot of their books and would like to switch it up with something new. It doesn't need to be groundbreaking literature, just fun to read and not depressing/violent.
Thanks in advance!

I love the chronicles of St Mary by Jodi Taylor. Very fun books set in the slight future about an institute called sf Mary’s of historians who travel back in time to observe history first hand. Very silly and fun and funny, sometimes heart wrenching!! Honestly in line with terry Pratchett to a degree. One of my favorite series.
Yahtzee Croshaw’s **Will Save the Galaxy For Food** follows a space pilot scrounging a living after being put out of work by technology advances. The protagonist is a mashup of Han Solo and Crocodile Dundee.
