This year, I really want to start reading more new books that are just releasing instead of older books. So, does anyone have any books they are looking forward to reading when they release in 2026? Thanks in advance!

John Langan has a new novel coming out! I really loved *The Fisherman* and it’s supposed to be in the same world. I so loved how there’s deeper lore and worlds that are just hinted at rather than fully explained. So I’m hoping it will be more of that!

    2. Here are some sci-fi/fantasy books I’m keeping my eye out for:

Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel

The Fires of December by Brandon Sanderson

The Last Contract of Isako by Fonda Lee (this is probably what I’m most looking forward to, I so hope it’s good because it has all the factors I love)

A Book of Fallen Leaves by A.S. Tamaki

The Infinite State by Richard Swan

Operation Bounce House by Matt Dinniman

John of John – Douglas Stuart

      Whistler – Ann Patchett

The Things We Never Say – Elizabeth Strout

Exit Party – Emily St. John Mandel

      Really excited for these four!

I’m really looking forward to a mix of literary fiction and quieter, character-driven books in 2026.

      • Anything new from John Langan — especially if it connects back to The Fisherman. I love that hinted-at lore style where not everything is explained.
      • Emily St. John Mandel’s next novel, if she releases one — I’ll basically read anything she writes at this point.
      • Rumored new Ann Patchett — her pacing and emotional restraint always work for me.
      • More “cozy but serious” women’s fiction releases — the kind that focuses on family dynamics, grief, community, and winter settings rather than plot twists.

I’m also trying to read more books as they release instead of always playing catch-up, so I’m following publisher catalogs more closely this year.

Curious to see what others are excited about — I always find great stuff in these threads.
