I think I’m in a reading slump because I’ve been reading genres I’m not really into like romance but my favorite books are A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Book Thief, American Gods and Don Quixote to name a few. I absolutely loved My Friends from Frederick Blackman.
Books on my radar: Lonesome Dove and The Brothers Karamasov (I think misspelled sorry)

Perhaps The World According To Garp? One of my favorite JI novels.
Life of Pi has a similar sense of destiny. You might try other John Irving books
The Deptford Trilogy, a strong influence on Irving’s novel.
