hi! i've only really read romance books but am trying to broaden my taste/not only read romance books for 2026. i really want a good history book or any non-fiction book, and it could be about anything… i just don't want to read something that's pro-war/not critical of the us. ty!!

“War is a Force That Gives Us Meaning” by Chris Hedges. It’s the exact opposite of a pro-war book and is heavily influenced by the US involvement in the Iraq War. Hedges draws on his experiences as a war correspondent to try to dissect why societies repeatedly engage in destructive conflicts.
