I just finished re-reading LOTR and would like a break from fantasy for a while

Needful Things, by Stephen King.
Endless Night, or The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, both by Agatha Christie.
I also loved The Turn of the Screw by Henry James – it’s only a novella but I read the first line or two and was hooked
