I’m a picky reader

I got into my local B&N to see if anything catches my eye once ń a while but I've been having a hard time getting interested in the books I pick up.
The books I have read are Harry Potter, and the first Warrior Cats book.. Honestly I might be cooked with reading recommendations, or I'm just not a book guy?
I'm writing my own oc story to give myself some sort of "book" to read, I mean if I can't find anything interesting I might as well make my own right?
