As a picky reader I need a suggestion!

I really like psychological thrillers, horror, crime. I’m not necessarily opposed to romance but I hate cheesy romances like Colleen Hoover especially when it feels like a 5th grader wrote it. I just finished East of Eden- it was really good and I was eager to finish it, but I also kind of felt the whole time like I was waiting for something big to happen that never came. I know it’s controversial but I liked The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. I enjoy Stephen King and have read/liked The Institute and The Long Walk. Started but had a hard time getting into The Stand. Also tried to get into Sleeping Beauties but heard it’s pretty bad so never finished. I loveddd The Children of Red Peak by Craig DiLouie. Help!
