Hi all!
I've noticed I've recently only read books that I would rate 3, 2 or even 1 star out of 5. It's starting making me lose hope for books and I'm craving some good ones! I've been doing lots of research on Goodreads but I'm discovering that that is not a reliable source anymore and books that get rated very high are just "meh" in my opinion.
So maybe some of you can help me here!
I loved the trilogy of Caraval by Stephanie Garber, when I was younger. For me it was the perfect pacing, amount of mystery and setting. I read the Once Upon A Broken Heart Trilogy but I thought it was very meh. Way too many plotholes and characters that acted out of character. Same goes for Alchemy of Secrets, didn't really like it.
I also loved the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) although there was a bit too much politics and it would sometimes be too slow.
I liked The Woman in Black by Susan Hill too, the level of spookiness was just right for me.
I absolutely adore Coraline, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. I liked Neverwhere too, but I'd rather stay away from his books nowadays😭
I really loved John Dies at the End. I also loved The Hunger Games. And I liked Good Girls Don't Die by Christina Henry.
Didn't really like A Court of Thornes and Roses. The Cruel Prince was kinda nice-ish. I thought Legends and Lattes was a bit too slow but it was also cute.
So where do I go from here? 😀
I'm up for any genre but I lean more towards low- and mid-fantasy, mystery, spooky and I'm also up for horror. And I'm also up to try more sci-fi, haven't read much yet!
Basically up for anything as long as there is no big battles and battlefields and war between humans/elves/dragons or any other sentient groups of people. There's enough of that sadness already in the real world 🙁
