I was listening to some movie scores last night and realized I know absolutely nothing about music theory. Are there any books out there that go into the basics, but aren't textbooks? I'm not interested in composing myself, Im not trying to learn to apply the skills anywhere, Im just really curious about how it all works, how a song is able to create such specific moods and atmospheres. Stuff focusing on film and tv scores would be an extra bonus.
