My 10 year old son LOVES Harry Potter and has read and listened to the series many times. I'm trying to introduce him to different new options. He also enjoyed Percy Jackson, and that got him very interested in Greek mythology. He is trying out Terry Pratchett now (Wee Free Men) but I'm not sure if that is his cup of tea. He reads well for his age but tend to lean towards graphic novels because it's easier and has pictures. Any recommendations welcome!

      For some variety:

Holes by Louis Sacher – funny, clever, and endearing (and great film)

Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz – youth spy thriller series (don’t watch the movie)

Gary Paulson in particular his Hatchet series – adventure/survival

Gordon Korman has a hundred books to choose from in many genres. Maybe he’d like some of the trilogies from the early 2000s (Island/Everest/Dive)

Maybe a series you can read with him would be the Earthsea cycle by Ursula Le Guin.
