hello everyone! not sure if this makes total sense but im trying to start reading more this year and all the books on my bookshelf are nonfiction books about psychology, spirituality, biographies, etc. but i also have tons of true crime and other in general "negative" theme books. i used to only read psychological thrillers usually about abuse or toxic relationships, all negative stuff. i am not into the fantasy or romantasy genres…. i want to consume more postive content this year. anyone know of any books that are good stories with a positive message? not like preachy or self help type stuff…. idk i guess im looking for something like wholesome happy movies that make you think about life in a positive light or just make you feel joy, but in a book. i am not a reader so im not familiar with any current authors or books, also not on tiktok so dont really know whats popular or whats out there. i am totally new to reading haha. i loved reading as a kid but i guess i dont even really have a favorite book. basically does anyone have any good stories or books that arent depressing content like true crime or psychological thrillers about crime. i do like soapy drama haha. want to know what to look for at the book stores! thanks in advance!

Have you tried “The House in the Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune? It’s got that cozy wholesome vibe without being preachy at all – just a dude working at a magical foster home with some really sweet found family stuff going on
Also “Beach Read” by Emily Henry might hit that soapy drama spot while still being uplifting. Two writers basically dare each other to write in different genres and there’s romance but it’s not heavy on the fantasy stuff
Both made me smile without feeling like I was being lectured about life lol
