Both novels drop ordinary women into a world of isolation and unanswered questions, exploring how they create meaning from routine and survival. The Wall is written in a relentless stream of thought without chapter breaks, making the experience feel intimate and creating a flow of being pushed forward without answers. Where Harpman shows collective loneliness for most of the book, Haushofer explores solitary endurance and the slow acceptance that some questions may never be answered.
It seems criminally underrated! I gave it 5⭐️
