Let me start by saying I’m sorry if this is either not allowed or oversaturated.

I’m starting a new dungeons and dragons campaign where the players will face off against a triumvirate of a vampire lord, an ancient necromancer, and a powerful hag. Are there any books that I could use for inspiration on this? The world takes place in a large coastal bog, kinda like Louisiana, USA, if that’s anything. I don’t mind long pieces, as I have a lot of free time at work. Obviously, the books don’t have to include all three of the villains listed above, and I’m open to multiple works.

    1. I set multiple DND campaigns in the Old Kingdom, which is a setting in Garth Nix’s Abhorsen trilogy where necromancers use bells to control the undead, and the Abhorsen is a “good necromancer” tasked with attempting to lay the dead to rest. The necromancers often need to visit the 9 gates along the river of death, which are dope places for DND battles or puzzles. It was fun to make custom bells to give to the party as magical items.

The first trilogy is Sabriel, Lireal, and Abhorsen. He has since written other books with the same setting, but the first trilogy is the best.

    2. Why not create an interconnected narrative? For books, I’d recommend:
      -Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter
      -Brotherhood and Rituals
-The Nature of Witches, by Rachel Griffin
-Interview with the Vampire, by Anne Rice
-Witches and Necromancers, by Raquel Brune
