Hi! I’m looking for book recommendations and thought I’d ask here 🤍
I especially love older books—the kind that feel like a warm hug. Stories full of kindness, found family, nostalgia, and quiet growth. Books that leave you feeling a little softer afterwards.
Some of my all-time favorites are:
- Anne of Green Gables
- Anything by Jane Austen
- Little Women
- Howl’s Moving Castle
- Tom’s Midnight Garden
- The Secret Garden
- A Little Princess
I’m open to both classics and more modern books, as long as they have that warm, gentle feeling. I’m not really looking for anything very dark, violent, or cynical—though emotional depth is absolutely welcome.
I’d love to hear any recommendations you think I might enjoy. Thank you so much

For me, it’s The Wandering Inn by pirateaba.
Oh my, you need to read the James Herriott books in chronological order. He was a vet in a rural area of Yorkshire, England from 1930s to 1960s or so. He wrote about his experiences there and his books are exactly what you’re asking for. First one is All Creatures Great and Small.
Two BBC adaptations of his books have made (1970s) and also being made right now.
