A friend of mine is having a baby, and she explained to me a neat tradition in her family of giving babies books about their parents careers and the gift giver's career. For example, when I had my baby, she gifted her Baby Loves Coding (my husband is a software developed), Baby Loves Physics (her husband is a physicist) and Maybe Something Beautiful (I'm a hobby artist and worked in animation).

I'd like to do something similar for her baby. She is an OBGYN, so while that could be tricky I think something about medicine could work! Also looking for a kid's book about physics, animation/art, OR out of left field, featuring elephants as they are a very important animal to her.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    1. Also the classic Dr Seuss, Horton Heard a Who for an elephant character. And the Elephant and Piggie series!

My husband is an ER doctor so when our son was born I went on a mission to find medical baby books.

Highly recommend all the Baby Medical School books by Cara Florence. We have Bacteria & Antibiotics, Vaccines, and My Doctor’s Visit.

We also have RNA and ABCs of Biochemistry from the Baby Biochemist series.

Our son enjoyed the pictures as a baby and now at 3 loves reading them for the nice flow and simply explained concepts.

There’s also a series of specialist books by a company(?) called Ant Ling. There’s a My Mummy is an OB/GYN one. We have the My Daddy is an ER Doctor and the words are good but the art gives AI vibes. It’s fun having the exact medical specialty though.

Can’t help with medicine, but for physics try Rocket Science for Babies or Quantum Physics for Babies

“Baby Medical School” would be similar to the “Baby loves…” science series, though not specific to ob/gyns.
