Now of course we’re all humble here and don’t require any sort of validation from others. But we all have a favorite we might leave on a nightstand or on the coffee table. Favorites to place on the prime real estate of our bookshelves (at eye level).
You might be having a date over. Or host some guests that you want to internally approve or ask about the cool books you have out. They could be special editions with dope covers or just a great novel itself.
Are there any books like that for y’all?

My coffee table book is the Spomenik Monument Database.

My hardcover Lonesome Dove is the one I want out most, it’s just so cool looking and really embodies my favorite works.
As if there’s any organizational structure to my bookshelves…
Coffee table contains whichever books I’m currently reading, along with anything that might raise eyebrows (English as She is Spoke, a veterinary guidebook on sheep diseases from the 1950s, etc.)
This book is old now (1994) and I no longer even have a coffee table, but I put out Material World: A Global Portrait (ISBN-10, 0871564378) and got lots of conversations going. It is a pictorial of all the items within individual households around the world.
I bought some masters or phd students theses that got book binded in the end. Vietnam war, medicine during the golden age of Islam, and related. I thought they were really interesting so I’ve planning to move it to my curio cabinet.
Scene of the Crime. it’s a big photo book from LAPD archives between the 1930s and 60s. always a good conversation starter.
I have so many that a single would get lost but I do have a few special books
My holy grail book I managed to get just before Christmas – they only made 100
I may make a special case for it yet 🙈
My American 1st edition of _The Silmarillion_ and a very big _Watchmen_ collector’s edition. I also have a nice Godzilla coffee table book to make the vibes clear haha.
My limited edition guards guards.
The Anarchist Cookbook, Tantra: the Search for Exstasy, Les Fleurs du Mal, and Opus Alchymicum.
Yeah…no. Books are books. Have about 2000 of them. They own a spare bedroom and are starting to leak out. The last thing I want is to king a few, place them in other rooms so the infection spreads. Can’t let those books develop airs.
