My TBR is dwindling and I need to restock! I’m not really looking for popular books from booktok or those seen often on Reddit. What are some lesser known or not-as-popular books you’ve read that you loved??
All genres of fiction novels are welcome, except maybe Horror (and I mean true Horror; scary/thrillers are acceptable).
Thank you in advance!

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo gets mentioned sometimes but I feel like it’s still pretty underrated compared to how good it is. Also check out The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer – it’s this massive historical fiction about a Hungarian Jewish family during WWII and I literally could not put it down but nobody ever talks about it
If you’re open to very long books, my absolute favorite book is [The Hands of the Emperor](https://share.google/ID8EUnwDjqkoB35LB) by Victoria Goddard. It’s a beautifully written, slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
Less by Andrew Sean Greer
Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy
Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson
The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer
The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa. Just trust me on this. The description talks a lot about math and baseball, but it is a beautiful novel.
Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente
The Dog Stars by Peter Heller
Blindness by José Saramago
There is a nice assortment of short stories by different authors on Story Sanctum. You’re bound to find something you like there.
Pym by Mat Johnson and An Ocean of Minutes by Thea Lim are two of my favorites which others seem to have mostly ignored.
Go back and start with
Whatever year you want and look at the bestsellers lists . So many good books that were popular are not remembered or mentioned anymore
