I love books that are set in suburban American towns. the title says 1950s, but I wouldn't mind anything that feels like 1940s-1970s. I want the lonely, isolation feel that comes with going through the motions of a suburban town. Or the feel of malaise due to living an unfulfilled life.

Check out Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates – it’s basically the bible for suburban 1950s existential dread and perfectly captures that suffocating feeling you’re after
The Briar Club might fit your needs! I just finished it and really enjoyed it, takes place in the late 40s/early 50s
