im american (shocker, right?) and the U.S. public school system failed me. im about to graduate college with my bachelors degree and i dont know anything about the rest of the world, which at this point i need to take responsibility for. so what are the first steps towards educating myself? do you know of any books for dummies about world history/other cultures in general?

Honestly “A History of the World in 100 Objects” by Neil MacGregor is pretty solid for getting a broad view without being too textbook-y. Also check out “Prisoners of Geography” by Tim Marshall – explains a lot about why countries act the way they do based on their location

    2. Not specifically about the rest of the world but Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green talks about lot about how the various countries have responded to TB, how the culture views western health care, etc. I find it very informative

    3. James Fell’s “Today in History” should be good. I just read his FB posts, but so far he’s been correct-er than average.
