I'm on the hunt for historical fiction that features strong female protagonists navigating challenging circumstances. I recently read "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah, which beautifully portrays the resilience of women during World War II. I'm particularly interested in stories set in different time periods, showcasing various cultures and their struggles. Whether it's tales of survival, empowerment, or resistance, I want to feel connected to these characters and their journeys. If you have any recommendations that capture the strength and complexity of women in history, please share!

    1. Have you checked out The Book Thief by Markus Zusak? Liesel is such a badass character and it’s set during WWII but from a completely different perspective than The Nightingale. Also maybe try Circe by Madeline Miller – it’s more mythological but Circe’s character development is incredible and she definitely fits the strong female protagonist vibe you’re going for

    2. Idk if you know this but if you like historical fiction then the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction releases a long list every year of books before they announce their winner. Browsing their long list is a great way to get recommendations.

Lilac Girls series and Golden Doves by Martha Hall Kelly. Kate Quinn writes a lot of historical fiction with strong female reads. I also just read The Book of Lost Names and The Quiet Librarian which fit the vibe
