I have a very hard time reading books. Then I found one book that was so good I couldn’t stop reading, ”The Housekeeper and The Professor” by Yōko Ogawa.
I am trying to figure out why I liked it so much and managed to finish it even. My leading hypothesis is that I loved the way it brought in mathematics and teaching into the story. (I’m a math and science lover). But I also think it had to do with the lovable characters and the very simple but existential story.
So I am wondering if there are any other books out there that first of all:
– has a main character that is a nerd and loves to talk about their favorite subject (preferably nature or linguistic science, but anything can work)
And if any of them have:
– lovable characters that you care for
– a rather simple but intriguing plot
– deals with the human experience (like identity, grief, morality, meaning)
– medium/fast paced
I think I might read more if I find my type of book, so thanks in advance if you can help me find more!
(Btw, another one of my favorite is a very well written children’s book called ”The Tale of Despereaux” by Kate DiCamillo. I know it’s a children’s book but there is something special about it)
