I watch a lot of TV. But I want to read more books. A lot of books I’ve read recently and that I see are the most frequently recommended here are character driven. Meaning you are thrown in the world of fascinating characters and just experience how they handle all the different things life throws at them. Lonesome Dove and Demon Copperhead are examples of these (in my opinion). To relate to a tv show, these are like the Wire. Instant classics, great books overall. But it’s about the journey of the characters and not necessarily a super exciting “what happens next” type read.

But I want the equivalent of the show Lost in book form. Probably the most binge worthy show of all time, every episode has you on the edge of your seat, etc. This story/plot is insanely addicting and it keeps you wanting more.

So what are the best books you’d recommend that are more like the latter? What are some books that can replicate the binge worthy nature of Lost.

    1. The most binge-worthy series I can think of are Lost Fleet by Jack Campbell and Codex Alera by Jim Butcher. Each is a series I completely inhaled over the course of a week.

My favorite ‘plot-centric’ writer is Timothy Zahn. His characters are serviceable but he tends to recycle the same archetypes in each book, meanwhile the concepts and plots are always very engaging. I absolutely devoured Icarus Hunt by him.
