My boyfriend (23 M) is very smart and well spoken but he doesn’t read a lot. Not for any particular reason, probably because it’s not something he was encouraged to do in his youth since he’s very sporty and math focused. I am an English major and just read a lot in general and I am always trying to get him to read more so we can talk about books, I also think it’s very important to be well read in general. My dad and I were trying to think of book recommendations that he would like a lot. Since he’s smart and engages in philosophical discussion I was thinking something like Kafka, Camus, or Vonnegut, but my dad thinks they might be too weird for someone who doesn’t read much. My dad was suggesting Nick Hornby or something more lighthearted and easy to follow. Any suggestions? Suggest stuff that got you out of reading slumps, and kept you engaged from start to finish.
