    Hey!

This year I set myself a challenge to read 52 books and blog about them. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to the blog. For the record, I started with It's Not a Cult by Joey Batey.

I have a few books on my TBR list at the moment and a provisional list of books I want to read, but I thought this would be a good place to find some I hadn't considered!

    Here are my criteria:

    – Books by authors of all races, genders, sexualities, countries etc. are considered, but own voices authors are strongly preferred. Likewise queer representation, particularly MLM romance, would be great.
    – Around 300 pages, no shorter than around 250. There's some leeway on this, especially if the book is available on Audible so I can listen to it at a higher speed.
    – All genres are considered, including non-fiction, but I do have a preference for fiction – I have a few non-fiction books on my current provisional list.
    – Comic books and manga are applicable, but only if there's an omnibus/audio play available, so I could read/listen to an entire arc but I can't read one issue of Crossed and call it a day.
    – Preferably stand-alone, but if it's a series it needs to be the first book.

Genres I particularly love: Horror, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, MLM.
Authors I particularly love: Haruki Murakami, Stephen King, Grady Hendrix, Chuck Palahniuk, Poppy Z Brite, Joe Hill, Erin Morgenstern, Jason Pargin

    Some books/series I love:

    The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
    Battle Royale by Koushun Takami
    Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
A Density of Souls by Christopher Rice
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind
The Arc of the Scythe by Neal Shusterman
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
Sufficiently Advanced Magic by Andrew Rowe
The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss
    Horns by Joe Hill
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
Locke and Key by Joe Hill
World War Z by Max Brooks
    Uzumaki by Junji Ito
Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg
Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite
Ready Player One by Ernest Kline
John Dies at the End by Jason Pargin
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

    Books I didn't care for:

The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
    Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Ready Player Two by Ernest Kline

I want to have a decent variety to tackle over the year. I anticipate some of the books on my current list will be quite dark and it'd be great to have something lighter and more "fun" as a nice little palate cleanser.

So hit me with your suggestions! I can't promise they'll all make the list but it'd be great to have some recommendations I hadn't considered.

    1. Based on your taste I’d definitely recommend The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – has that same compelling storytelling as The Night Circus but with Old Hollywood glamour and solid queer rep

For something lighter between the horror stuff, Red White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston is pure MLM romance fluff that’s actually well written
