Just finished listening to Blood Meridian… wow! What a shocker!
Thought it was a brilliant book, but certainly not for the feint of heart (due to both content and writing style); thus, I am after a bit of a palette cleanser (in both regards). I’d like an easy read / listen, as well as potentially something a little less hard on the soul.
I really love a book with a good personal voice. I find them often to be very comfortable reads for me. Some of my favourites are: Fight Club, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, High Fidelity.
That being said, personal voice isn’t necessarily a must, and to give you a broader picture, some other books I really love have been: Carrie (definitely interested in exploring more Stephen King), Ready Player One and The Walking Dead (although I’m not currently looking for a graphic novel).

For Stephen King, I would recommend The Institute or 11/22/63. The Institute has a sort of Stranger Things-like vibe, while 11/22/63 involves time travel and is just a lovely (and exciting) study of the 1960’s and the Kennedy assassination.
For something a bit more lighthearted, pretty much everything by John Scalzi. Starter Villain or The Kaiju Preservation Society if you are looking for standalones.
If you feel up for a series, Dungeon Crawler Carl is both very fun and very exciting. Also heartbreaking at times, but now in the McCarthy way. I hear the audio book version for these are amazing, so that may be a plus.
I just read the Border trilogy and Blood Meridian back to back and was also in need of a easy change. I chose ‘A Man Called Ove’ and actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I might,
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is an easy and hilarious read, or Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy is also great
