I’m currently reading “Mourner At The Door Stories” by Gordon Lish, the start made me so angry but I continue. So far the book is funny and unique, which suddenly makes me think about life a bit, here and there. So, I asked you guys if there’s any more books similar to this? Granted there are SO many like this, but I would like for it to touch the subject of life and death more like this one and “Love Is A Dog From Hell” by Charles Bukowski (haven’t read much of that yet but I like it so far). Anything helps! Thank you for taking the time to read!

Jesus’ Son, by Denis Johnson
The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker
Bukowski was influenced by John Fante, so I would start with *The Bandini Quartet*, which collects Fante’s four Arturo Bandini novels, *Wait Until Spring, Bandini*; *The Road to Los Angeles*; *Ask the Dust*; and *Dreams from Bunker Hill*.
You would probably also like *Fat City* by Leonard Gardner, *Hunger* by Knut Hamsun, and *Temptation* by János Székely.
