I’ve been reading Parables of the Sower and it is very good, but I need something light hearted that is still interesting. I’m trying to escape seeing things like fires, or guns, or people combatting with each other. I want something that leaves me feeling at ease or happy. I tried a comedians book, but they were so out of touch it wasn’t funny at all. What do you recommend?

Have you tried Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series? Guards! Guards! is a good starting point – it’s funny without being pretentious and the humor actually lands unlike most comedian memoirs

    2. A Gift of Time by Jerry Merritt. It’s a story about time travel but it’s just a means to an end. It’s basically the story of the main characters Lifetime. It is a little sad in spots. But overwhelmingly it’s just a good feel good book. I’ve read it a few times. It’s what I go to when I just want something comfortable.
Edit to add Mr B Gone by Clive Barker. Is technically the horror genre but it’s the story of a demon that is bound in the book and he is actually a very funny narrator.
