I’ve got a few picked out already, but my list isn’t even halfway done.
I’ve created five categories for myself:
– Memoirs (my favorite genre)
– Controversial (banned books, hot-button issues, etc.)
– The Classics (i.e. “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “Catcher in the Rye”…)
– Out of My Comfort Zone (genres I normally wouldn’t lean towards, such as sci-fi, historical fiction/alternate history, etc)
– Going in Blind (self-explanatory; regardless of the genre or topic, I’ll pick it up and read it without looking into it)
10 books per category.
Even if I don’t hit 50 by the end of 2026, it’s a new goal I have to challenge myself – and I’ll likely be carrying some suggestions into 2027!
I have a pretty strong stomach, regardless of whether or not it’s fictional (so please don’t let that deter you – at the same time, I don’t want a book that might’ve been written purely for “shock value”).
You don’t have to give me a suggestion for each category – I’m just very curious to know what I might be missing out on! And full disclaimer: Sometimes it’s easier for me to pick up the audiobook, especially with memoirs; if I’m actually hearing the author’s voice, it hits harder.
